A Pass in the SSLC (X Std)/OSLC (X Std) Exam requires a minimum of 35% of marks in each one of the 5 subjects. This includes passing under the compartmental system also. Social Science or Tamil or Mother Tongue is an optional subject for OSLC Public Examination but it will not be taken into account for eligibility but the candidate should attend this subject compulsorily.

KEAM Final/Last allotment. www.cee.kerala.gov.in

The final allotment to Medical (except MBBS/BDS) and Allied Courses 2014 has been declared today on the web portal www.cee.kerala.gov.in  The last and final allotments have been done to BAMS, BSMS, BHMS, Bsc(Hons.) Forestry,  Bsc(Hons.) Agriculture, BVSc and AH and BFSc courses. Candidates should confirm their options online to be considered for this phase of allotment to Medical (except MBBS/BDS) and Allied courses. Only those candidates who have confirmed options online within the specified time alone were considered for this allotment.

The details of allotment of a candidate will be available on the home page of the candidate. The candidates should take a printout of the allotment memo and submit it before the authorities of SBT  (State Bank of Travancore) for payment of fees/balance fees.  Those candidates who receive an allotment afresh should remit the fee to be paid to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations as specified in the allotment memo at any of the designated branches of SBT on any date from 13-10-2014 to 15-10-2014 in order to accept the allotment. The list of designated branches of SBT is available on the website.

Fee details

Candidates who get a change in allotment than that of the previous allotment should pay the balance fee, in SBT (if applicable). All the candidates who have an allotment should pay the fees/balance fees  to be paid to the CEE (Commissioner for Entrance Examinations) at any of the designated branches of SBT and they should join the respective colleges on or before 15-10-2014. The candidates who do not remit the fees/balance fees within the specified time or who do not join the colleges concerned will lose their allotment and also their existing higher options.

Dates for Fee Payment :13-10-2014 to 15-10-2014 , Dates for Joining the Colleges : 13-10-2014 to 15-10-2014. This is the last phase of allotment to Medical & Allied courses. Hence the candidates who get allotments to such colleges should invariably join the allotted colleges. Otherwise they are liable to pay the Liquidated damages as envisaged under Clause 12.2.4 of the Prospectus for KEAM 2014.

Note

In the event of a new allotment, the candidates admitted in Government/ Government controlled Self Financing/ Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges and Private Self Financing Architecture Colleges are liable to pay the liquidated damages as per clause 12.2.4 of the Prospectus-2014 and orders issued by the Government.

Nobel Prize in Physics 2014

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 was awarded jointly to 3 Scientists  "for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources". The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2014 to Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura. This year’s Nobel Laureates are rewarded for having invented a new energy-efficient and envi-ronment-friendly light source – the blue light-emitting diode (LED). In the spirit of Alfred Nobel the Prize rewards an invention of greatest benefit to mankind; using blue LEDs, white light can be created in a new way. The advent of LED lamps have more long-lasting and more efficient alternatives to older light sources.

KEAM LAST PHASE ALLOTMENT

The last phase of Allotment to Medical (Except MBBS/BDS) and Allied courses for the year 2014 will commence from 07.10.2014. Last allotments will be done to the Medical & Allied courses such as BAMS, BSMS, BHMS, Bsc (Hons.) Agriculture, Bsc (Hons.) Forestry, BVSc & AH and BFSc.

Candidates included in the Medical Rank List-2014 and who want to participate in this phase of allotment to other Medical & Allied courses must compulsorily confirm their online options, by logging on to their home page. After option confirmation, the candidates can delete the unwanted higher options and can re-arrange the existing higher options. The facility for option confirmation/deletion/re-arrangement will be available in the web portal  www.cee.kerala.gov.in from 07-10-2014 to 09-10-2014, 5 pm.

Those who do not confirm their higher options online within the stipulated time will not be considered for allotment to Medical (Except MBBS/BDS) and Allied courses. The requests for option confirmation/re-arrangement/deletion of options received via Post/Fax/e-mail will not be considered.

The “Option Facilitation Centres”  & “Help Desks” , having internet facility, will be functioning throughout the State during this period for providing necessary help to the candidates for online option confirmation/re-arrangement/deletion. The details of such centers are available on the web portal, www.cee-kerala.org

13-10-2014 to 15-10-2014 : Candidates allotted to other Medical & Allied courses should remit the fees/balance fees shown in the allotment memo at selected branches of SBT (State Bank of Travancore) and should join the respective colleges.

15-10-2014 : Submission of Non-joining report by all the College authorities before 5.30 pm.

This allotment will be the last phase of allotment to Medical & Allied courses. Hence the candidates who get allotment to such colleges should invariably join the allotted colleges. Otherwise they are liable to pay the Liquidated damages as envisaged under Clause 12.2.4 of the Prospectus for KEAM-2014.

Make in India

PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious campaign to turn India into a global manufacturing hub plans aims to develop infrastructure and make it easier for companies to do business. The hope is to bump up manufacturing from 15 percent of GDP (gross domestic product) to 25 percent. But the challenges were highlighted by a seemingly small gaffe: The project was launched with brochures distributed on a smart looking USB flash drive/Pen drives that was made in China. India imports 2-3rds of its electronics, mostly from China. Most American of products, from the world’s most valuable company, Apple, is famously designed in California, made in China. Both making and services now span enormous global networks, with pockets of strong expertise (like India, in services) supplying to the world. 

So, the enormous spend and resources for “Make in India” would give better returns elsewhere. Such as in our services industry. Or in building up a ecosystem for renewable-energy services and products, so that by 2020, India can dominate that sector.

On PM's "Make in India" campaign, Harish H V, partner, Grant Thornton India, said, "India desperately needs to grow its shrunken manufacturing sector to create jobs for its huge population particularly those of the youth to prevent the demographic dividend from becoming a social disaster. Hence the make in India campaign is critical. This needs to be more than a slogan but must become the key mantra for the Central and State Governments.

The new initiatives that are under way are creation of National Industrial Corridor Development Authority, and identification of five new smart cities on the Delhi Mumbai Industrial corridor. The government has also given approval to seventeen national investment and manufacturing zones.

The campaign launch was attended by a wide array of global as well as Indian industry leaders. RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi motivates a billion Indians to dream and do." Similarly, other captains of the industry also showered praises on Modi. Industrailist Kumar Mangalam Birla said the country needed to do a lot of catching up on the manufacturing sector.
